ABOUT THIS CEMETERY

About Zachary Taylor National Cemetery

Named for the 12th President of the United States, who rests here with his family, this national cemetery was established in 1928 beside the historic Taylor family burial site in northeast Louisville. Memor guides visitors to the presidential mausoleum and to any veteran's headstone.

President Zachary Taylor and First Lady Margaret Taylor lie in a limestone neoclassical mausoleum at the cemetery's heart, marked by a granite shaft the Commonwealth of Kentucky erected in 1883. More than 14,000 veterans of every American conflict are interred in the surrounding grounds.
