ABOUT THIS CEMETERY

About Gettysburg National Cemetery

Dedicated at the ceremony where Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address, this national cemetery holds more than 6,000 interments including 3,500 Union soldiers from the Battle of Gettysburg. Memor helps historians and families find individual graves across the curved rows.

The curved sections hold Union soldiers sorted by state, many of whom were originally buried in battlefield graves before reinterment. Lincoln's Gettysburg Address was delivered at the dedication ceremony in November 1863, cementing this site as a pilgrimage destination for American history.
