ABOUT THIS CEMETERY

About Oakland Cemetery

Atlanta's oldest public cemetery is a Victorian garden of brick paths, mausoleums, and history — including author Margaret Mitchell and golf legend Bobby Jones. Memor maps its 48 acres so visitors can find any of its 70,000 graves.

Oakland is as much a history museum as a burial ground, with its Victorian-era mausoleums, the Confederates section, and an entire Jewish burial section. Tours run weekly through its brick paths, which makes it one of the few American cemeteries operating as both a memorial and a civic attraction.
